In Key West we run a group home for children 11 through 17.
This home is supervised and ran by a husband & wife team
called House Parents. These children
have been removed from their homes because of neglect,
abuse, abandonment, or other situations. The placement is
usually long term but again the length of stay is determined
by the courts. Many of the kids that come into this home will
live there until they turn eighteen but the goal of the program
is to allow them to live like any other child would. They
attend regular schools, after school activities, maintain
a job if appropriate and function in the home as any other
child would.
